Chris has his place in the 'BUPA Great Manchester Run 2012' which will take place on Sunday 20th May, and is raising money for 'The Christie Charity', who are the leading experts in cancer care. Chris is hoping to beat last years time of 51 minutes, 43 seconds.

Statement from Chris: "Just had Lloyds TSB on the phone (PR & Media Communications Senior Manager) as she knew I was annoyed with the way I have been treated regarding the flame... she tells me out of the 8,000 places that were given out, only 1,360 places were given to Lloyds TSB, then take away places that they gave to local heroes (young people good at their sport) and their own staff! There were then only 800 places left! It's all wrong, she had no facts and figures in front of her and this call has been set up for two weeks! Oh, she did say I was shortlisted though as I had such an inspiring story! I want nothing to do with the Olympics whatsoever - this country is a shambles. Happy Christmas everyone!"

Statement from Chris: "I would like to thank every one that has sent messages to me regarding the Olympic Flame. I remain very sad and disappointed by the situation. I received an email yesterday from one of the managers at Lloyds TSB stating "We reviewed every nomination and shortlisted the best – of which yours was one of them."
I remain puzzled by the whole situation!"

8 December 2011:
Statement from Chris: "I am very sad and disappointed to announce that I was not offered a place to carry the Olympic Flame next year. It would have been great to represent my home town of Clacton on Sea, Essex, in such an historic event, but it is not to be. I was interviewed on Anglia News back in July and was chosen out of the whole of East Anglia to appear on the programme, and was led to believe that I would be taking part from many conversations with Olympic staff. Things then seemed to change – one minute a “favourite” and the next minute “not taking part”.
It is just really disappointing the way things have been done, I know there have been problems with tickets and then the flame not coming to Tendring – I just wish I wasn’t led up the garden path by Lloyds TSB, as I am now gutted to not be included in the list of people who will carry the flame. I would like to thank Aimee Nicholson who nominated me earlier this year, and all my family and friends for their support during the nomination process, I would also like to thank all the hundreds of people who asked me questions about the flame after I appeared on Anglia."
